Conference Prizes

A panel of judges convened to decide upon the award of 4 prizes for presentations made at the LED2021 conference. The awards were as follows:

  • The Martin Aitken Prize for the best oral presentation of a fundamental study was awarded to two receipients as the judges felt that both were of the highest quality:
    Aditi Krishna Dave: E’ and peroxy paramagnetic centres in quartz as a proxy for provenance: Examples from Central Asia

    Trine Freiesleben: Non-first-order kinetic models in rock surface dating
  • The Ann Wintle Prize for the best oral presentation of an applied study was awarded to:
    Joanne Elkadi: Constraining past bedrock surface temperatures in the western Alps using feldspar thermoluminescence palaeothermometry
  • The Peter Townsend Prize for the best poster presentation of a fundamental study was awarded to:
    Nina Ataee: Isolating a VSL signal suitable for dating: investigating different thermal pretreatments and signal integration limits
  • The Vagn Mejdahl Prize for the best poster presentation of an applied study was awarded to:
    Mariana Sontag-Gonzalzez: Establishing a pIRIR procedure for De determination of composite mineral grains from volcanic terranes: A case study of sediments from Liang Bua, Indonesia
